Configuring and managing your server

How to Reset the Neither

The Nether in Minecraft can be reset or deleted for a few reasons. Firstly, it can be reset to give players a refreshed experience of the game by generating a new Nether world, with new fortresses, structures, and loot. Additionally, a server owner may want to reset the Nether to incorporate new Nether updates like the 1.16 Minecraft update. Finally, the Nether can be deleted to free up space on the server or to remove any unwanted modifications that may have been made to the Nether by players.

Reseting Neither on Vanilla

On Vanilla, the Nether is stored inside the world folder.  To reset it, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Navigate to the panel map page, note the activated world name.
  3. Open the WebFTP.
  4. Locate your world folder with the same world name that you noted before.
  5. Open the folder and locate DIM-1.
  6. Right-click this folder and select delete. Wait for it to be fully deleted.
  7. Start your server.

Reseting Neither on Bukkit/Spigot/PaperMC

If you're using plugin-compatible versions like Spigot or Paper in Minecraft, the Nether might be saved in the main directory adjacent to your world folder. To reset it, follow these steps:

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Navigate to the panel map page, note the activated world name.
  3. Open the WebFTP.
  4. Locate the folder with yourworldname_nether, next to your world folder.
  5. Right-click this folder and select delete. Wait for it to be fully deleted.
  6. Start your server.

Common Issues

If you encounter any issues during the reset process, here are a few common problems and their solutions:

If you deleted the DIM-1 folder and the Nether remains unchanged, check that you deleted the correct folder and that the world name matches.
If you are running Spigot, Bukkit, or PaperMC, delete the "worldname_nether" folder instead of "DIM-1".
